50% traffic fine discount announced in Sharjah

If you're a motorist in Sharjah, now is the time to pay your traffic fines: You'll get a 50 per cent discount if you settle them now until January 31, 2020, and you'll get your black points cancelled, too.

Major-General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, on Tuesday announced the decision, following an approval from the Sharjah Executive Council.

"This is a move that is expected to encourage motorists to clear their debts," said Maj-Gen Al Shamsi.

The police will make arrangements to facilitate fine payments in all of its police stations and through other methods, he added.

Maj-Gen Al Shamsi thanked Sharjah leaders for supporting the police's efforts in enhancing security and safety in the emirate.
